Useful Tips
Ways to maintain your furniture
Fabric

- Most fabric has to be hand-washed or dry cleaned. However,
some fabric may require special washing instructions. So,
make sure you read carefully the product label and/or materials
provided by the manufacturer. If you are not sure, contact
the manufacturer / retailer or seek professional cleaning
advice.
- Scotch-guard your fabric furniture for better protection.
It repels water and dirt to ease cleaning. However, do remember
that proper care of the furniture is still required, as
the protective finish is merely protector and is temporary,
not plastic cover.
- For light stains and spills, wipe them with damp cloth.
- Do vacuum the furniture on weekly or biweekly basis to
remove dust.
- To prevent fading of the color of the fabric, do not place
your fabric furniture under direct sunlight or sit on the
fabric furniture when you are perspiring heavily.
- Avoid placing newspaper directly on the upholstery fabric,
since ink will accumulate and is difficult to remove.
- Never cover your fabric furniture with dark colored blankets,
sheets, etc., because the dyes may rub off onto the fabric
furniture when dry or bleed when wet.
- If there is any loose thread on the furniture, use a pair of scissors to cut it. Do not try to pull it.
- Do not soak the leather with water and never use a blow
dryer on it for drying
- Do blot any spills immediately with a dry cloth, and let
air dry.
- If you accidentally spill butter, oil or grease on the
leather, clean it with a dry cloth and allow the remainder
oil dissipate into the leather. Do not apply water or wash
the grease spot.
- Keep leather furniture away from heat sources, because
it will eventually cause the leather to dry out.
- To prevent leather furniture from becoming dry, crack,
or fade, do not put them under direct sunlight.
- Do vacuum the furniture regularly to remove dust.
- Regularly use the recommended cleaners or creams to improve leather’s resistance to staining and to keep it soft and supple.
Wooden

- Use a clean, washable, lint-free cotton cloth, i.e. old
T-shirt or dish towel at least weekly to remove dust with
motion following the grain pattern of the wood. You can
moisten the cloth lightly with water or spray product.
- When dusting, always lift the objects. Do not slide them
across the surface..
- Use coasters and place mats to prevent spills, stains
and damage from hot/cold dishes. Wipe away all spills immediately..
- Keep solvent, alcohol, nail polish and polish remover away from wooden furniture surface.
Cane & Rattan

- Clean regularly with a dry paintbrush or vacuum with a
brush attachment. This will allow you to reach in between
the grooves.
- Use a moist soft cloth to clean the cane surface about
once every two months. This will help keep them free from
dust and dirt.
- Do not use thinner, creams or any other chemical products
because they are harmful to your furniture.
- To prevent the furniture from becoming dry and lose its elasticity, do not place your furniture under direct sunlight
